There are lot's of method all around. but there below are the method that i use for hiding my data.

Method 1 : Making the Folder Invisible 
                    Select the folder and Rename it to Character set's nothing character
                    by pressing Alt + (numpad)255 . it will looks like this.


                      Now, Make the folder icon to nothing. Select the folder and goto the Properties > Customize.
                       Click on 'Change Icon'  and Select  "none icon".


                  Click OK.
 

                     Now you can see our folder is still besides the games folder and not visible.

but the folder is still selectable and can be highlight easily. So use this method for wise locations like windows directories or games folder directories.



Method 2 : - Make Folder looks like something else with extension like .txt .ini and save it in secure area etc.
                      This time rename the folder to extension like .txt, .ini , .log , .bmp etc that seems like useful system file.
 
                               
    Now, Change the icon to the text file

    Now, place this folder to directory containing system files e.g C:/windows/

No one is going to look inside your windows directory.

 Method 3 : - Bypassing the folder to something else location.
                        We can bypass user to some other location using this trick. This is the way of changing attributes of our folder to something else.
                           
Now, Open the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> Type 'cmd') and move to directory containing our folder.
    raname the folder to using "ren" command :
          ren our_folder "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
    Then change the attribute
        attrib +h +s "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"


Now, Our folder are will looks like this....
    
When user click on this file he will bypass to Control Panel. Still this file is not secure , any one can access it by renaming the file.you can make hidden in order to protect it.

 Open the folder option from the Tools -> Folder Options....

        
tick on this and click OK.
